    • John Jesse, Senior, is my great, great, great, great (4) grandfather. I must send for his Revolutionary War Record if I can get it. Jim Jessee in Vol. 15 of the "Jessee Family Newsletter", Aug., 1999 refers to "John and Frankey Lea Jessee of Cobb's Creek, Caswell County, North Carolina and Carr's Creek (today Mill's Creek) in Reed's Valley, Russell Co., VA." Index, page 368; and, Roster of N.C. Soldiers in N.C. DAR - page 12, page 138). See Will Book 3, page 169, Russell Co., Virginia, for listing of children. See: EARLY SETTLERS OF LEE COUNTY, VIRGINIA and ADJACENT COUNTIES, VOLUNE I, by Anne Wynn Laningham; published 1977, Media, Inc., Printers and Publishers, Greensboro, North Carolina. Kentucky Historical Society Library, 975.502, L, 477 l, v.1.- Pages 171-179: "From the arms description comes the proof that the JESSEE family is of WELSH extraction. They were seated in the northern part of Wales at Denbigh in Denbigshire, Wales. Burke's "General Armory". John Jessee, Senior, was a soldier living in Caswell County, North Carolina, during the American Revolution. He was listed as a Musician in Yarboro's Company and again in Pierce's Registr as a Revolutionary Soldier. (Roster of Soldiers in N.C. by the N.C.D.A.R., page 12 and 138. He is also listed in the D.A.R. Patriot Index, page 368.) John Jessee was living in Russell County, Virginia when he bought land from Thomas Price and Jane his wife 25 March, 1791, 100 acres on both sides of Carr's Creek which had been granted to Price on April 22, 1785. (D.B. 1, page 135, Russell Co., VA. Also, on 24 Sept 1794 (Deed Book 1, page 304), a deed was made by William Gilmore and Elizabeth his wife to John Jessee, 200 acres on both sides of Carr's Creek, granted to Gilmore from the Commonwealth of Virginia by patent bearing date August 16, 1795. John Jessee born circa 1750; died Russell Co., VA, (Will Book 3, page 169) "Pursuant to the order of the Court of Russell Co., VA, an Inventory and Sale ofPersonal Estate of John Jessee, Senior, deceased Nov. 17, 1815, Francis Browning, David Muncey, John Colly, Heirs of John Jessee all signed a deed to Archer Jessee in D.B. 8, pg. 87, Russell Co., VA., August 7th, 1827, between John Jessee, Lea Jessee, David Jessee, Mary Kiser widow of Abednego Kiser, dec'd George Gose for himself and heirs of his wife Elizabeth, deceased, George Stone and Frances his wife, Wilson Vermillion and Sally his wife, Stephen Gose and Boadicea his wife, James Jessee, William Burke and Rebecca his wife, Henry Fuller and Jane his wife, George L.
